This week’s Field Journal takes us down to Girraween National Park in Queensland’s Granite Belt — a place I’ve wanted to photograph for a long time. Armed with the Canon, the Mamiya C330 loaded with black and white film, and a little Minolta point-and-shoot loaded with Portra 800, I headed into one of the most unique landscapes in Queensland: giant granite boulders, blue skies, green trees, and that strange, simple colour palette that makes the whole place feel like another world. It was hot — properly hot — but between the Granite Arch, the climb up the Pyramid, a few Lord of the Rings thoughts, some questionable composition decisions, and almost running out of water, this ended up being one of my favourite little photo missions so far.
